The Crafty Art of Ayckbourn (2023)
Alan Ayckbourn and his work is being celebrated in a special weekend event from 15 - 17 September 2023 at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough. The Crafty Art of Ayckbourn will include a one-off reading of a his cancelled 2020 play, Truth Will Out, a celebration of the 21st anniversary of his seminal book The Crafty Art of Playmaking, his new play Constant Companions and more. Events can be booked individually or in a package.The Main Events
◦ The Crafty Art of Playmaking with Alan AyckbournAlan Ayckbourn is joined by two actors to discuss his acclaimed book and explore some of his writing and directing guidelines on the 21st anniversary of its publication.
Friday 15 September at 7pm (£25 or part of inclusive package)
◦ Constant Companions
The world premiere production of Alan Ayckbourn's 89th play
Saturday 16 September at at 2.30pm or 7.30pm (from £10 or part of inclusive package)
◦ Truth Will Out
A rehearsed reading of Alan Ayckbourn's full-length play intended to be premiered at the SJT during summer 2020, but cancelled due to the pandemic. It has never been seen or heard in public and Alan Ayckbourn himself will be performing alongside a cast of hand-picked actors.
Sunday 17 September at 2.30pm (£25 or part of inclusive package)
